The artist Anne Curtis, finally launched her own makeup line - BLK cosmetics.
BLK stands for black, which is timeless, uncomplicated, classy, sophisticated, and simple.

I am not a fan of lipstick in a bullet because most of it is not transfer and smudge proof. But what caught my eyes is the classy, and glass-like packaging of the lipstick that looks expensive and maharlika haha! Who would have thought that it's only P299? However, the color of the box is totally different from the actual lipstick, so do not rely on it when choosing the color.
My crush this 2018 is the BLK's Chic. |
The upper part of my lip is dark while the lower part is chapped because of the cold weather here in the Philippines.
To test the pigmentation of Chic I didn’t apply foundation, concealer, or lip liner. I only used Nivea lip balm to moisturize my lips but I’ll blot it away before the application of matte lippie.
Chic has intense color because it was able to hide the dark pigmentation of my lips on the first swipe. Also, the formula is hydrating and creamy even if I have dry lips, maybe because of Vitamin E and camellia oil.
The shade is my lips but better (MLBB) shade, perfect for my yellow skin because the color didn't wash me out.
I can’t say that this is a true matte/powder matte because there’s still a hint of sheen to it. Regarding the shade of Chic, it appears dusty rose/mauve on my skin tone which I love.
However, if you’ll look closer, it did emphasize the chapped part of my lip, so better exfoliate your lips.
If you’re looking for an affordable dupe of the BLK’s Chic that is Maybelline’s Raw Chocolate :) I don’t have the raw chocolate on hand, but I was able to swatch it and compare the color side by side since dalawang kembot lang ang pop-up store ng Maybelline to BLK.
It’ll be awesome if the packaging for matte is a bit frosted coz it’s hard to tell what’s the difference of moisturizing lippies vs. matte unless you’ll check the box or bottom of the lipstick.
PROS:
- The packaging looks like an expensive lipstick.
- No allergic reaction on lips
- 100% Cruelty-free
CONS:
- The color transferred to my teeth, simply because it’s not transfer proof.
- Hair strands might stick to your lips
- Fragile packaging as I saw that some testers are already cracked.
- Not long lasting: Chic stayed on my lips for 4 hours (Not eating anything but I’m drinking water using a straw) and need to reapply after meal.
- Smells like plastic. I’m not sure if it’s because of the packaging or the lipstick itself but you'll no longer notice it once applied.
- There’s manufacturing date but no expiration or shelf life symbol.
