I was encouraged by my coworker to try a BB cream that is made from Korea. Apparently, if  you’ll purchase it in the Philippines specifically in Malls, it’s around P1000+ just for one bottle. So I searched the net and reviews on Youtube about the product, luckily one of my favorite Filipina beauty vlogger Anne Clutz recommended Shopee. I always prefer a physical store since I’m afraid of online scam, but I want to give it a shot.

Shopee is an online mobile app on where you can purchase a product (buyer) and sell an item (merchant). For Android phones, you can download it from Google Play Store for free.

After downloading the app, you’re required to complete your profile (name, photo, phone number, email address, physical address and bank card for refund purposes)
Shopee is promoting free shipping if you’ll purchase (minimum) P250.00 and up. I find it cool compared to other online shops that the minimum purchase is P1000+ to waive the shipping fee.

What convinced me to try the app? Because of Shopee Guarantee: a buyer and seller protection feature of the app that will temporarily keep your payment before it releases your money to the seller. But first, you need to confirm through the app that you’ve received the order complete and in good condition. If not, you reach out to the seller using chat or file a refund.

I’ve placed an order for 3 products from two different sellers. Since I’m a first time user of the app, I have a discount code (WELCOME11) for P100.00.

After placing an order, the app will give you options on how would you like to pay it or you can coordinate with your merchant as they also have other shipping and payment options. In my case, I chose to make a payment through SM Bills, since I don’t want to pay an extra transaction fee and I can drop by there before going to work.
If you failed to pay before the deadline or else your order automatically will be canceled.

You’ll receive a notification of your payment before or at the end of the day through email, so make sure up verify the email address on the app.


The 1st seller was scheduled to ship the item on 11/19. She’s from the South while I’m from Metro Manila so I already set my expectation that my parcel will arrive late. But I'm surprised that she shipped it 3 days ahead of the schedule. Also, the merchant will be notified through the app after you’ve placed your order. They can also see who cancels the order.
October 18, 2016 - The courier (Black arrow express) sent me an SMS about my order. Since I’m still sleeping that time my partner received it for me, which is a no no because they didn’t even ask for an ID.

After receiving the order, you need to tap the “order received” button.


Hit “confirm” for Shopee to release the payment to the merchant.

Last is to rate the product(s) and seller (comment is optional). My shopping experience with this seller is FANTASTIC! She has the initiative to send an instruction on how to track your order. So, if you’re a first time user of the app it’ll easy for you.




About the third item that was ordered from the second seller, she was given until 11/16 to ship the Mary Kay Foundation and we’re both located in Metro Manila. Apparently, when I reached out to her, she mentioned that someone from Shopee picked up the order from her, but the status of the is still “to ship”.

I emailed support@shopee.ph on what to do because it’s my first time to order online. They advised me to tap the extend Shopee Guarantee to give the seller more time. Then file a refund if the merchant will not ship the item on the given date.





 The support gets back to me in a timely manner which is a thumbs up for me.

However, I already hit the refund button on 11/20 and sent a message to the seller saying to accept my request for the refund because I know that refunding money might take more than two weeks.

November 20, 2016 - my bank account is showing a shadow balance of P680.00.
November 24, 2016 - The shadow balance of P680.00 was successfully refunded back to the card on file.

  • Limited payment option, hope they’ll add Paypal soon.
